Plano Balloon Festival

This past weekend the city of Plano, just south of McKinney, hosted its annual Balloon festival. It lasted the whole weekend and, as you can imagine, there were lots and lots of hot air balloons floating over town.

Check out the panda Balloon, is that cool or what? As you can see it was quite crowded. Nevertheless, it was a good time.

Nice crowd. We saw a pirate/clown type balloon over our work. Pretty neat.

I like the panda balloon. There are a few festivals around our area. The Matthews covered bridge festival is held the first or second weekend of September, then the Civil War Days is next month. I haven't been to that yet, although my son went with his 8th grade class last year. I'm going to try to go this year, since I have a nice camera this time.

Neat shot of the sign Dan!
Years ago I used to own a balloon shop (fun job!) and we had all kinds of hot air balloons for advertising and the like as well as ones like the panda - we had a big Santa Claus one year - that sure made a hit at the mall with all the kiddies :)

Oh wow, I'd LOVE to attend one of those. That had to be a great photo op!

About This Blog

This blog is about pictures of Mckinney, Texas. Of course, that does not mean that you won't see pictures of other places once in a while. Mckinney, is one of the fastest growing communities in the United States. It also boasts the second largest historical district in Texas. So, while the community grows into the future it is also trying to stay connected to its roots. This creates and interesting and creative dynamic. I try to capture some of that dynamic in my pictures of Mckinney
